American, 1879-1963. Born in Newport RI to wealthy social family but moved to Riverside, Connecticut c. 1890. Studied with John H. Twatchman in Cos Cob and Arts Students League and H. Siddons Mobray at ASL. Studied in Lyme, CT summer 1904. Lived, traveled and painted in Europe 1904-1906, Paris 1907-1908, Woodstock, NY 1908, New York 1910-1913. Exhibited American Art Association 1906,'07, '08; Salon D'Automne Paris 1905, '07; Pennsylvania Academy 1907, '08, '09, '10, '12, '14, '48; National Academy New York 1908,'09, '10, '11, '12, '14; National Arts Club 1910,'11, '12, '14, '15; Newark Museum 1910, '11; Silvermine Group 1909, '10, '13, '15; Alfred Stieglizt's 291 Fifth Ave Gallery 'Younger American Painters' 1910; The Armory Show New York-Chicago 1913; Madison Gallery 1910,'11(both solo), MacDowell Club NYC 1912,'14; Montross Gallery New York 1910,'12, '13, '22; Pan American Exposition, San Francisco 1915; 1921 Bermuda; Many more gallery & museum exhibiitons.
